Gaining Knowledge @ Singapore Science Centre

Bismillahirrahmanirrahiim...

Yesterday i went to Singapore Science Centre. The admission charge is S$ 6.00/adult. I went there with my friends, Syandra and Putu. Syandra and I will be in Singapore for 3 months, from October 19, 2007 until January 18, 2007, for intership in School of Computing, National University of Singapore. Putu was my friend in 81 senior high school. This is the second time he accompany us hanging out in Singapore. First time when we went to Esplanade. Me, Syandra, Viny (was still here), Putu, and Tobias (Viny's friend) went there just for hanging out. Nothing special in Esplanade.

In Singapore Science Centre, we saw a lot of simulation of real things in the world. I could gain much knowledge there. Wow... it's amazing. I'm impressed on it. I can't tell more here. So, if you love science, please come to Singapore Science Centre.

Once more, in Science Centre, I had a chance to take photo with Murata Boy. Murata boy is a robot that can ride bicycle. In that exhibition, Murata Boy can answer few yes-no questions by nod and shake his head. Also, he can ride bicycle through straight and S-curve tracks. My Friend(s) and I

My Parents are going to Hajj

Last night I was worried about my parents. Why I could not call them... I tried to call them.. once... twice... three times... four times... etc.. And finally, at 11pm last night I could talk with my mom... But just my mom... I could not talk with my dad because my dad was in another room. My mom was fine. We could not talk a lot, because she wanted to sleep. She must leave Pondok Gede Hajj dormitory on the following day at 6am. So, I ended the call and slept.

In the morning, while I was preparing to go to NUS, I called my mom (mama) again. She and her group (Kloter 10) just arrived in the airport. The airplane will take off at 10am. In this time, I could talk with my dad (papa) and my aunt (Bule Atun). They go to Hajj and will back home in the next 40 days from now.

Mama, Papa, Bule, be careful ya.... Sorry I could not be there yesterday when you went to Pondok Gede Hajj dormitory. But I always pray that Allah would give you His praise, and you can come home safely. And we can meet again :)

Celebration of Tarmizi's Birthday

Happy birthday, Tarmizi..

Today is Tarmizi's birthday... Yeah, today, November 19, 2007. Although his birthday is today, he has treated us on November 17, 2007 :D because Viny is still here on that day. He invited and treated us (Syandra, Viny, and I) to watch "Stardust" movie in Golden Village, Vivo City.

Before we go to the cinema, we have dinner in Chicken Rice Soup in Vivo City. After dinner, we want to go to Vivo city roof to see the beautiful view.. But unfortunately, the time is 09.10pm. So, we must hurry to go to the cinema because the film started at 09.25pm.

The film ended around at 11.30pm. We think to go home by cab when there is an announcement from MRT security officer that the last train connected to Boonlay station will leave in 2 minutes. So, we catch that last train. We run, run, and run... Even, we run at the escalator... Oh my god, the time is up.. Thankfully, we are already in the train when the doors are closing.

Fiuuuhh...

In Newton station, we can't use the bus, because the time is already 00.12am.. The bus service ended at 23.59pm.. So, we continue go home by cab. In our hostel, we see that the entrance is already locked. We called the security to open the door..

Fiuuuhh...

Many things happen in that day...

Thank you Tarmizi to treat us watch the movie. We enjoy it so much, including catch the last train. ^^

Dinner with My Supervisor(s)

On October 30, 2007, my supervisor in NUS, Dr. Stephane Bressan, invited and treated us (Me, Syandra, Viny, Derry, and Tarmizi) to have dinner at the restaurant on Arab Street. Here are the pictures of the moment.

On November 14, 2007, one day after Malindo workshop held, Dr.Bressan invited and treated us again. This time, the dinner location is on Fifth Avenue, Thai Cuisine. At this moment, there is Mrs.Mirna, my thesis supervisor in University of Indonesia. She was here to attend the Malindo workshop and worked with Dr.Bressan for a week. Unfortunately, Derry and Tarmizi couldn't be here. Derry went to Malang to prepare her wedding and Tarmizi has gone back home.

Today I make my first presentation in English :)
Alhamdulillah, the presentation is good..
Thanks to Mbak Syandra.. We are certainly a solid team..

It's early of our work. Next we must work harder and harder..
Tagger... parser... We must create the two tools for Indonesian language.
There are so many rules that we must to think, create, and map into Brill's format..
So, don't give up, girls...

Today is Viny's last day here (NUS, Singapore). Viny treated us (Me, Mbak Syandra, and Tarmizi) in arts canteen after the presentation. Here are the screen shots of the moments.

November 19 is Tarmizi's birthday. And.... he invite the three of us to watch "Stardust" movie in Golden Village, Vivo City, tomorrow night, at 09.25pm.

Tarmizi is a very kind person. He has guided us (Syandra and I) in central library when we borrowed books there today. In NUS central library, we take some photos using Syandra's digital camera. Here are the pictures.
